The Fabulous Book of Paper Dolls

I got to sleep late this morning thanks to my school being closed for President's Day, and then my mom had to find things to keep me entertained on my day off.

We started off by going to see Barbie in Mermaid Tale 2 at the Studio Movie Grill and afterwards, Mom was nice enough to stop by Jo Ann's Crafts on the way home to buy me a new art project.

I selected this The Fabulous book of Paper Dolls by Julie Collings. And to my Mom's delight, I was entertained and occupied by the book for at least an hour. I designed a Bride and Groom at their wedding with their two babies. I told my Mom that the Bride had the two babies at her wedding.

Mom said that didn't sound like much fun for the bride, but I'm not sure what she meant by that. It seems fun to me.

I created an ice skating paper doll too.

The book comes with 6 paper people and piles of punch-out clothes, shoes, hats, crowns and other accessories. I liked it so much that I'm going to buy a few more to give my friends as birthday presents.

Happy paper doll making.

Love, Zoe

Happy Birthday to My Very Artful Dad

I realized today it's been almost a year since I posted on my art blog. I "dropped-out" of my art class, so I haven't been focused on art. OK, I didn't really drop out. The class ended and I decided to take-up some different hobbies instead of signing up for a new art class. I'm now taking horseback riding and ice skating lessons.

I suppose you could say there is an art to both of those hobbies, but I'll also see what I can do about coming up with some more artwork to blog about in the near future. For now, I'll leave you with a photo of my Dad's birthday cake. While I didn't make the cake myself, I did choose it at the bakery and there is definitely a lot of art that goes into cake decorating ... just watch a few episodes of the Cake Boss. Happy Birthday Dad!
